Disinformation

Many Russians created fake news articles to try and fire up a small group of Americans into a frenzy. According to Graphika, an organization dedicated to finding patterns in posts on social media, Medium.com (The website in the photo on the left) was the most used website to spread misinformation with 133 posts to that site with false information. Medium.com is not the only place where false information was posted. Many popular sites such as Reddit and Quora had 93 and 84 posts respectively.

Brute Force Hacking

Russian hackers did not only target social media though. The NSA has linked many brute force attacks back to Russia and its agencies. Many of these attacks used computer robots to spray as many passwords at a login as possible to see if anyone of them works until they are blocked by the site. Many of these attacks work which allow Russian hackers into businesses and organizations across the US.
